Butterflies, hearts, flowers

Lately I find myself using my time more wisely.  I sometimes go through long spells of wishing I had the time or motivation to get crafty.  The last couple of weeks have been filled with inspiration along with the time to actually follow through on some of those ideas.  I think I owe this extra time to cancelling cable.  Anyways I love going to the Dollarama to see what kind of craft supplies they have since they almost always have something new.  Even if I don’t know what to do with something if I think it has potential I buy it.  I mean for a couple bucks you can’t really go wrong.  So a few months ago I came across some larger wood cut outs that were basically a blank canvass with no paint or stain on them.  I bought a heart, butterfly and flower shape.  My first thought was to paint them and write some sayings on them.  BIG MISTAKE seeing as I tried to freehand the sayings and I kind of suck at that so it looked terrible!!  Frustrated I left them and didn’t touch them for  a while.  In the meantime I came across the problem of having to many magazines that I didn’t  have the time to read, so I thought I should at least look at the pictures!  So I went through them all and ripped out anything that I found pretty, cool, inspiring or just spoke to me in some way.  Now what to do with this huge stack of ripped out pictures?  A HA!! It came to me!  I will modpodge the clippings on the wooden shapes!  So I decided to color code them and do pictures on one side and plain color on the other.  I glued them all on, trimmed and sanded the edges then finished with a clear coat spray.  I think they turned out pretty good!  Now I just need to figure out what to do with them.  Any suggestions?

  1. I think they would be great wind chimes if you hung a bell or three from them.
